With a degree in Biology and a background in teaching science for a number of years, Joel has a great understanding and passion for providing a truly integrative approach to healing. After suffering the effects of stress on his own body while teaching, he discovered a wealth of knowledge and possibilities with the use of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Through this experience and his desire to assist people, Joel embarked on a new career path, which led him to earn a four-year post-graduate degree in TCM with an emphasis in sports injury acupuncture.
He is licensed by the Oregon board of medical examiners and is a nationally certified Diplomat of Oriental Medicine. Joel has been in private practice since 2006 and has learned a number of different acupuncture styles to induce the healing process and reduce pain. He has a passion for deciphering what will and won’t work for his patients to achieve their goals. A firm believer in the role stress, emotions and nutrition play in the recovery process, he is keen to identify and help the patient understand and deal with that aspect of the healing process.
He decided to practice here in Central Oregon because of the lifestyle and unbelievable scenery it has to offer. He has always thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and does so by going mountain biking, backpacking, boating, scuba diving, surfing and snowboarding. Having a young family of his own, Joel loves how Central Oregon is so supportive of that by providing a safe, activity-filled environment for kids to enjoy.
Joy received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biopsychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and then in 1999, Joy graduated from the University of Southern California with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. After leaving USC University Hospital in 2003, Joy then worked for another local LA hospital in outpatient orthopedics, while also volunteering and working as adjunct clinical faculty at the University of Southern California Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy Department. Joy was born and raised in Palo Alto, California.
As a child and teenager, she was always active, either trying to keep up with her two older brothers or running circles around them playing sports year-round. After graduating from high school, Joy had the opportunity to travel to New Zealand with an all-star Northern California basketball team representing the USA. She, her husband and 2 daughters enjoy biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing, and snowshoeing.

Matt is board certified in Orthopedics (OCS) and has completed coursework in manual therapy as well as Kinetic Control (a treatment method to address movement faults). Prior to Rebound, Matt worked as an outpatient Physical Therapist at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland.
When he’s not in the clinic, Matt likes to carry heavy bags around. Whether it’s his mountaineering pack or his golf bag, you’ll usually find him outdoors. If he’s not doing that, he’s probably in the kitchen experimenting with a new cooking technique or traveling with his wife, Hayley, and their young son.

During this period, she spent a large amount of time in orthopedics and sports medicine, allowing her to reaffirm her passion for working with diverse, active patient populations. Rachel and her husband love the lifestyle that Central Oregon offers with endless biking, hiking, camping, and skiing. She is incredibly excited to be part of a community centered around all things outdoors.
