Understanding Chronic Pain
Chronic or persistent pain is defined as any pain lasting more than 3 months, whereas, acute pain is a normal protective sensation that alerts us to possible injury, after injured tissue heals, pain is expected to stop. Chronic pain is very different and can persist for months or longer.
Chronic or persistent pain does not serve a useful purpose in life. Additionally, prolonged rest and avoiding activities can actually make chronic conditions worse as muscles become debilitated and conditioning declines. When muscles weaken, function declines and a dysfunctional pain cycle can develop.
Pain Does NOT Have to be a Way of Life.
An interdisciplinary team approach including your physical therapist, acupuncturist, occupational therapist and licensed massage therapist, all at Rebound, your referring physician, pharmacist and your family‘s support affords you the best opportunity for pain relief, recovery and improved function mobility.
The Rebound Chronic Pain Management specialists utilize a wide array of mobilization and manual therapy techniques, graded exercise, aquatic therapy, Watsu, acupuncture, and the latest therapeutic modalities such as cold laser, microcurrent, e-stim, patient education and self management, nutritional counseling, and ergonomic instruction to treat and manage your persistent pain and increase functional mobility.
