Rehab Pilates vs. Fitness Pilates
Rehab Pilates utilizes a physical therapist’s in-depth knowledge of biomechanics, anatomy, injury patterns and understanding of motor control, combined with Pilates. Pilates is a method of conditioning exercises that combines stretching, strengthening and breathing with a focus on a stable but mobile spine. Pilates emphasizes body weight as resistance rather than weights, and focuses on building core muscles and postural awareness.
At Rebound, we offer Rehab Pilates as specialized form of physical therapy to help you heal from your injuries. In Rehab Pilates, our Stott Certified Rehab Pilates therapist performs an extensive physical evaluation to determine all contributing factors to a patient’s dysfunction and pain. Our therapist then teaches you the principles of Pilates and then develops an individualized program of Pilates based exercise tailor made to what you need in order to safely recover from your injury. You simply cannot get this level of injury expertise combined with Pilates based exercise within a fitness environment.
The ultimate goal of Rehab Pilates is to improve a patient’s postural and movement awareness to eliminate or manage their pain, improve functional tolerance and quality of life. Pilates-based therapy at Rebound also includes progression to community based Pilates and/or home program. Treatment within this program is covered by health insurances that also cover physical therapy.

Erin grew up all over the western United States. She graduated from high school in Salinas, California, received a Bachelor in Exercise Science from University of Arizona, and earned her Masters in Physical Therapy at Chapman University in Orange, California, in 1998. Erin first worked in acute care at Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula. After gaining some experience, she pursued her interest in orthopedics at a private practice clinic in Salinas. In 2001, she came to Central Oregon and she has been working and growing with Rebound ever since. Erin became a Stott certified Pilates instructor in 2005 and received her Rehab Pilates certification through Stott in 2010. Currently, she is the only Rehab Pilates certified PT in Central Oregon and the director for Rebound’s Rehab Pilates program. Stott Pilates is a contemporary, anatomically-based approach to the mind-body exercise practice. Combined with her expertise in orthopedics and manual therapy, this has been very beneficial to her patients. Prenatal and post partum care is also a special interest of Erin’s practice. She has taken obstetrics coursework through the APTA and directs Rebound’s Mommybound program, which focuses on pain management, preventative care and patient education during pregnancy and in the months and years to follow. Erin, her husband Scott, and their two children enjoy the Central Oregon lifestyle with skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, and the warmer months are full of water skiing, wakeboarding, mountain biking and camping.
