Golf Program
Rebound’s golf program works with both injured golfers, helping them recover through a comprehensive program, and healthy golfers to improve their fitness and performance.
Golf is a lifetime sport that can be enjoyed without pain. Optimal fitness can improve performance and prevent injury. When an injury or lack of fitness keeps the body from moving properly, physical therapy can help. Many golfers have muscle tightness, joint restriction or poor body mechanics hampering their swing. Working with a physical therapist to achieve proper biomechanics – or body movement – you can reduce or eliminate pain and improve your swing consistency.
Rebound’s innovative golf program combines the expertise of a physical therapist specializing in sports medicine and a certified U.S. Golf Teaching Federation (USGTF) professional working together to help golfers achieve the following goals:
- Reduce or prevent pain
- Increase strength and flexibility
- Improve coordination and motor control
- Modify swing to improve efficiency and protect joints
- Continue enjoyment of golf
The golf program incorporates a biomechanical examination and video analysis to design an individualized plan. We use state-of-the-art digital video to analyze swing mechanics and identify faulty or aggravating movement patterns. Using in-shoe force plate technology, we can also study foot pressure patterns throughout the swing phase. Following video analysis and evaluation, we work with the individual to set goals and design a customized exercise program. Components of a program include:
- Hand positioning on the club, body alignment and posture
- Swing mechanics and ball positioning
- Instruction on detecting faults and self-correction
- Identify and prevent pain
- Strength and conditioning
- On-going support and email contact with the pro
