Acupuncture

Physical therapy and acupuncture have an important symbiotic relationship that creates balance in healing. Together they can speed the healing process and support whole body wellness. Acupuncture is a system of medicine that has been beneficial for any type of imbalance or health condition in China for over 2500 years.

The World Health Organization lists over 40 conditions acupuncture successfully treats. Acupuncture is also recognized by the National Institute of Health as a useful adjunct treatment or an acceptable alternative treatment to be included in a comprehensive health management program.

Jody Vance
As a licensed and nationally certified acupuncturist, Jody brings with him a focus on orthopedic style acupuncture and Tui’na (Chinese style massage/bodywork therapy). Believing strongly that most patients benefit greatly from an integrative approach to therapy, combining multiple treatment modalities, Jody is committed to working closely with his patients’ physical therapists, surgeons, and primary care physicians to aid in providing the most complete care available. Many orthopedic acupuncture protocols utilize principles similar to those of more conventional physical therapy, such as electro-stimulation, trigger/motor point induction, and manual therapy for pain reduction and improved ROM. Acupuncture can be an effective means of minimizing post-op pain and opioid consumption, as well as reduce recovery time when administered prior to, and immediately following surgery.
